Bless the Lord!!

Psalm 103:1-5 (NASB) Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name.  Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits; who pardons all your iniquities, who heals all your disease; who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with loving-kindness and compassion; who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

Count your blessings!  That’s a phrase that is often repeated by everyone.  Sometimes when you’re going through a rough time…those are the last words you want to hear.  When you’re told that the thoughts in your head range from…‘sure’ to…‘I know, but you don’t know what I’m going though’, to ‘but you don’t understand what’s going on in my life right now’.  How do I know?  Because they have run through my mind a time or two.  But when we do count our blessings with an open heart and mind – we begin to see and realize just what God has already done for us.  When we see this we know that if He never did another thing for us, our salvation is the greatest of all.

Let’s bless the name of the Lord.  Let’s praise Him for all He has done and all He continues to do in and through us.  He deserves all the glory and praise we have to offer Him no matter what we are going through at the moment.

My prayer is that I never cease to praise the name of the Lord…that if I am going through a rough time I praise Him even more…that people around me can see where I get my joy, peace, and strength from – my Lord, Jesus Christ.  How about you?

I pray everyone has a GREAT and BLESSED day.

Encouraging Word…

Hebrews 3:13 (NASB) 13 But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today”, so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

For the most part, we humans are social creatures.  We like to be around other people.  We like to feel wanted and needed.  When we have a bad day it is nice when someone gives us a smile or encouraging word.  And it is a blessing when we can do that for someone else.

Our dilemma begins when we choose the ‘wrong’ kind of people to surround ourselves with.  I know and understand that we have to work and live in this world, but I also know that the Bible teaches us that we are a ‘peculiar people’ – ‘set apart’ for God.  When we surround ourselves with people who do not know Jesus and these are the people we ‘hang’ out with; slowly, little by little, the deceitfulness of sin will creep into our lives.  satan is sneaky and for the most part he doesn’t jump all over us at once.  Little by little he ingratiates himself until finally we are off God’s path and we don’t really know how it happened.

That’s why TODAY, we have to encourage one another.  TODAY we have to check ourselves for any hardening of our heart for the things of God.  TODAY we have to seek the face of our God so that the deceitfulness of satan cannot creep into our lives.  Always…TODAY.  Because no one is guaranteed tomorrow.

My prayer is that God would use me to encourage someone else…that I continually seek after His heart so that my own doesn’t become cold or calloused in any way…that my life is a witness to those around me of the wonderful peace and joy found in my Savior.  How about you?

I pray everyone has a GREAT and BLESSED day.

…a Reason for Prayer?

Romans 8:26 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.  We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
Sometimes when I pray, my mind gets lost or is not in focus and I have no idea why I am on my knees.  I remember to thank God for all His blessings and to pray for the ‘normal’ things I do each day.  But sometimes I have the overwhelming feeling of ‘is God really listening’ to me.  Or I wonder if I am praying selfishly – should I be praying for something else.
That’s when I try to stop and listen to the Spirit inside me.  He knows what I need long before it comes to my mind.  He will intercede for me when I am too drained to think of anything myself.  And as He prays with me and through me, I am refreshed and comforted by His Spirit.
We all need refreshment…some days more than others.  God will refresh us if only we will stop and allow Him too.
My prayer is that I allow the Spirit to pray through me…that my prayer life grows and grows…that people around me can see I have been in the presence of God.  How about you?
I pray everyone has a GREAT and BLESSED day.
