The Soul Cries Out…

…for rest…for peace…for joy…for love…
…for hope….for security…for contentment…

It desires a place that when examined nothing intangible is lacking.

Yes, our soul longs for paradise.  It longs to be in that place where God resides in all His glory.  Where there is no sorrow, no strife.  No tears are shed in paradise. No worries there either.  Joy and praise are at the very top of the list of ‘things to experience and do’.

Ohhh…but here comes the ‘worm in the apple’, the ‘fox in the henhouse’, the ‘bitter in the sweet’.  We are not there yet!

Life has a funny way of showing up and destroying any or all of the things our soul desires at one point or another if we allow it.

One of my favorite Psalms is number 42.  The first two verses I really love:

1 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You, my God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.  When can I go and meet with God?

But as you read down through the verses there are three references to the soul being downcast, being disturbed.  Ring any bells in your day – your life.  It does in mine.

We all have ‘issues’ at one point or another in our life.  There are always going to be moments where we wonder if we are going nuts or if it is the world around us.  What we have to do to when our soul cries out is make sure we turn to our Lord.

Psalm 42 also says in verses 5 and 11 –

Why, my soul, are you downcast?  Why so disturbed within me?  Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.

Sometimes it’s not easy, sometimes it’s not what we want to do, sometimes it goes against everything we feel ~ BUT it is always the right thing to do.  No doubt about it.  Praising our God will help our souls to rest in Him, to love Him more, and to be more content in whatever place we are in the moment.

God is an awesome God!  He loves each one of us more than we can imagine or know!  He is the lover of our soul!  Only He can quiet all the negative ‘stuff’ we can be bombarded with.  He is our ABSOLUTE!

5MC ~~ Embrace

How are you today?  Are you busy?  Got lots of errands to run…places to go…people to see?  With all that can be going on in our lives what with work, family and friends sometimes it is very difficult to stop long enough in our busyness to just praise and worship God.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing  wrong  with working hard ,  taking care of our families,  and enjoying  some relaxation .  But when God is moved down the list of our priorities – we have a problem.

I have learned over the past several years that to really EMBRACE God…to have a true and wonderful relationship with Him, He must come first IN ALL THINGS and AT ALL TIMES.

To embrace Jesus is to love Him with all your heart, your soul, your mind.  It is to give Him first place in your life.  He desires to be everything to us.  He longs to embrace us with His love, His peace, His joy, His strength, His kindness…with everything He is and has!

He is absolutely the only true thing we NEED in our lives!  JESUS!  Embrace me, PLEASE!

Promises Kept…

1 Chronicles 17:17 (AMP) 17 And yet this was a small thing in Your eyes, O God; for You have spoken of Your servant’s house for a great while to come, and have regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O Lord God!

David had been promised that his sons would reign…that his offspring would reign over God’s kingdom forever.  While I was reading this verse, I could feel the awe that David felt at all the Lord had done for him and was promising to do in the future.  David had been made the king of Israel.  He was a mighty man of valor, strong and courageous.  He had walked with God but had also stumbled and fallen in his life yet he was still humble enough to know where his help came from.

God has promised all His children a variety of things.  He wants us to know that He is ever faithful to us and that we can stand assured that He will not break His promises.  But we must stay humble before Him.  We must always be in awe of Him as our Creator and God.  We should never stop seeking His will for our lives.  For He is the Word…He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  Only in Him can we find true joy and happiness.  Only in Him can we be assured of an eternal life in His presence.

My prayer is that I am always humble before the Lord…that I never stop seeking His face and will for my life…that my walk with Him is a witness to those around me of His great faithfulness.  How about you?

I pray everyone has a GREAT and BLESSED day.
