“When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.” ~ Isaiah 41:17 (KJV)
I have been so needy the past couple of weeks. I have felt as if there was something just beyond my reach that would help me see many things in a new and different light. A much better perspective. Just plain – dry and thirsty!
The water I need is flowing from the heart of God. It is a fountain which will never dry up. I can drink from this fountain freely because I am His child. This fountain is the Lord, Jesus Christ!
We are all poor and needy at some time in our lives. We could be going through a particularly difficult situation, burned out with life, or just not know which way to turn on the road we’re traveling. God will hear our cry!
He will not forsake us – but we do have to cry out to Him. We have to become desperate for Him. We have to seek His face and talk to Him continually. Jesus does not get tired of hearing from us. Guess what? There is nothing to big OR to small that He does not want to be involved in. He is our Father.
My prayer is that I always remember where to go when I become needy…that I drink from the fountain of Christ all the time…that I become a living witness to what the ‘water’ of Christ can do for this world. How about you?
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. ~ Proverbs 1:7
There were two definitions of the word fool that I really liked. The first was, ‘a person lacking in judgment or prudence’ and the second, ‘a retainer formerly kept in great households to provide casual entertainment and commonly dressed in motley with cap, bells, and bauble’. I think both of these definitions can describe the same person unfortunately.
If we don’t reverence God, if we are not in awe of who He is then our knowledge of Him is just in our heads and not our hearts. Fools can have head knowledge of Him but never heart knowledge.
For us to have a wonderful, fantastic, loving and growing relationship with Jesus it MUST be a heart thing. We must reverence the holiness of God. We must stand in awe of His majesty.
A fool never will.
A fool knows it all.
A fool would not deign to desire the kind of wisdom it takes to know God.
It’s sad…but true.
To have the wisdom of God all we have to do is ask. He said we could have it. His word is true. Nothing foolish about it!
My prayer is that I am never foolish about my relationship with Jesus…that my knowledge of Him grows more everyday…that I can be a living testimony of what heart knowledge of God will do for your life. How about you?
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
And He brought them out of their distresses.
He hushed the storm to a gentle whisper,
So that the waves of the sea were still.
Psalm 107:28-29 (AMP)
It doesn’t matter what size your storm is, what matters to you is it is happening in your life. You may look around and notice what others are going through, I have and then thought to myself – what am I complaining about my problems are nothing like theirs. But still the storm in your life rages on.
Big, little…raging or just a small torrent when you’re in the middle of the storm it matters to you.
Jesus is able to still the storm or give you peace through it. Either way it’s a comforting thought.
Give it to Him! He is the peace speaker!
