I had a really rough week. Year end in the accounting business can be really stressful and when you are just learning about the industry you work in, it is even more so. I don’t know about you but sometimes I fear if I don’t learn something quick enough or make too many mistakes I might lose my job. As I was reading and studying this morning my prayers turned to this.
Lord, You are my light — my salvation. You are my defender so there is noone or nothing I should fear. Though storms and enemies rage all about me – my hope is ALWAYS in You! I am confident in Your strength and Your faithfulness. Help me in spite of everything to seek Your face so that I may live in Your house forever. My desire is to see Your face – to have five minutes at Your feet. To see the beauty that is You! You shelter me, You conceal me from the enemy, You defend me at all times because I am Your child. I will sing Your praises because You are my God! I will tell joyfully of Your faithfulness because You are my Lord!
Psalm 103:1-5 (NASB) Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits; who pardons all your iniquities, who heals all your disease; who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with loving-kindness and compassion; who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.
Count your blessings! That’s a phrase that is often repeated by everyone. Sometimes when you’re going through a rough time…those are the last words you want to hear. When you’re told that the thoughts in your head range from…‘sure’ to…‘I know, but you don’t know what I’m going though’, to ‘but you don’t understand what’s going on in my life right now’. How do I know? Because they have run through my mind a time or two. But when we do count our blessings with an open heart and mind – we begin to see and realize just what God has already done for us. When we see this we know that if He never did another thing for us, our salvation is the greatest of all.
Let’s bless the name of the Lord. Let’s praise Him for all He has done and all He continues to do in and through us. He deserves all the glory and praise we have to offer Him no matter what we are going through at the moment.
My prayer is that I never cease to praise the name of the Lord…that if I am going through a rough time I praise Him even more…that people around me can see where I get my joy, peace, and strength from – my Lord, Jesus Christ. How about you?
Psalm 103:1-2 (AMP)1Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul; and all that is [deepest] within me, bless His holy name! 2Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits–
Does it ever seem to you that you can be going along in your relationship with Christ when suddenly you’re struggling to stand? Or that instead of walking forward…you’re taking a few steps back, standing still, or slipping and sliding and trying not to fall? I don’t know about you but I have.
One thing I have learned is Satan wants us isolated. He wants us to think that no one else struggles like we do…that there is no point because we just can’t seem to get it right. But what is he? As a child might put it – a big fat liar!
When (not if) this happens, just keep praising the Lord. Praise Him with everything you have…praise Him no matter the circumstances…praise Him to keep the isolation at bay. Don’t allow anything to keep His praise from your lips. Forget not all the things Christ has done for and through you. Know that as we praise Him, our walk becomes a little surer, a little clearer. Because no matter where we are, what we are doing, how we feel – Jesus is worthy of ALL our praise!!!
My prayer is that my praise is never half-hearted…that I praise the Lord continually with every fiber of my being…that I not allow satan to isolate me in a moment of difficulty but that I bless the name of the Lord at all times! How about you?
