Exodus 15:2 (NIV) 2 The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him, my father’s God, and I will exalt Him.
This week I started training for my first 5K run on October 17th. That’s 3.1 miles…3.1 miles! (Anyone that knows me and is reading this is going, ‘what is she…nuts!’ ‘She’s not in shape, she’s not strong enough.’ ‘She’ll pass out from lack of oxygen within the first 15 minutes’.) Well right now, at this moment they’re correct – I’m not in shape. But I found this program and if I follow the instructions and do what it tells me to do, I will at the end of almost 3 months be able to run 3.1 miles in about 60 minutes. (My goal is to do it in about 45 minutes.)
In our spiritual life, who is our strength? In one word…Jesus! How do we gain in His strength, how do we get into the shape He desires us to be in? By following His commands, by living our lives the way He desires us to. He has the program all written out for us. We have the examples of many men and women in the Bible of what to do and what not to do. It isn’t hard to figure out all…all we have to do is read His instructions – the Bible. And if we obey His word, we will become stronger and stronger in Christ until we get to our ultimate goal. Christ in us until there is nothing left of ourselves. Then all we will see in the mirror is a reflection of Him!
My prayer is that each day I become stronger in the Lord…that I never forget exactly where my strength comes from…that my life is a testimony of the joy and peace found in the strength of the Lord. How about you?
