Psalm 1:3 (ESV) He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers
Psalm 1:3 (AMP) And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].
You can’t begin a 31 day study of verse 3 without trying to understand why the verse is comparing the person to a ‘tree’. The answer to that is found in verse 2 of the Psalm. It states “his delight is in the law of the Lord”. I believe for us to delight in the law of the Lord, we must have a relationship with Him. Our relationship with Jesus is that tree and that is what I hope to explore over the next 31 days.
I love words. I love dissecting them, discovering the meaning, playing with them – just getting to know them. I started a search of the word ‘tree’ and ended up with a book full of ideas to relate that to our walk with the Lord. Trees are straight, bent, tall, short, thin and fat. Some can withstand a drought, others would die. Some have deep roots down into the earth yet others are shallow. Sounds quite like the human race.
I hope you enjoy the journey. I hope I can impart some speck of knowledge or a different perspective. That’s how I grow…in life, as a woman, wife, mother, daughter. I know at the end of the 31 days, I will have grown a lot – like a tree.
