Psalm 86:11 (AMP)
11 Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I may walk and live in Your truth; direct and unite my heart [solely, reverently] to fear and honor Your name. [Ps 5:11; 69:36].
Just sitting here thinking… I have 6 Bibles here on the bookshelf in front of me, not counting the ones I have on my Kindle and computer. They’re different versions, different sizes, different fonts but that’s still 6 Bibles. Guess what? None of them will do me any good unless I open them up and read and study what’s between the covers. In order for God to teach us His ways, we have to read His instruction book, the Bible. If we’re going to walk and live in His truth, we have to know what that is. We can’t truly fear and honor Him, if we don’t know Him.
We are only a little over 3 weeks into the New Year. If you haven’t already started, commit today to begin reading God’s word through for the year in addition to studying subjects He may lay on your heart. You can take the chapters of Proverbs and read one a day. Take 5 or 10 minutes a day and read the Psalms. Just do it! One difference between the Bible and every other book in the world – the Bible is ALIVE. It is the very Word of God. Nothing is better!
My prayer is that I read God’s word so I can learn all He wants me to…that I walk and live in His truth daily…that people around me know where I got my instructions. How about you?
